Six people doing the work. Your headcount is one.
Your finance close runs in #finance. Stripe and QuickBooks reconciled, runway updated, posted Sunday night without you asking.
Engineering review lands in #eng. Viktor pulled the open PRs, left comments on auth-refactor, flagged a dependency blocking api-pagination.
Campaign brief lands in #growth: Meta CPA up 18%, recommendation to pause broad match, a draft landing page already deployed for the variant test.
You hired him on day zero. He lives in Slack and Microsoft Teams alongside your contractors and investors, connects to 3,000+ tools, pushes back when you ship something dumb.
"Viktor is now an integral team member, and after weeks of use we still feel we haven't uncovered the full potential." Patrick, Director, Yarra Web.

The AI Visibility Brief
July 14, 2026 · Edition #21
Editor's Note
This week the data gets uncomfortable. Google rankings and AI citations are officially decoupling, SEO strategies optimized for one engine can make you invisible on another, and the brands winning AI answers are the ones treating YouTube like a citation channel. We also have the most striking citation study of the month: a brand that sells the most in its category ranks third in AI recommendations. That gap is where strategy lives.
Story 01 · Platform Behavior
ChatGPT Has 92% of AI Traffic. Claude Grew 64x. The Map Got Rewritten.
Citation Behavior | Engine Differences | Traffic Data
Previsible's 2026 State of AI Discovery Report analyzed 6.77 million LLM-driven sessions across 166 websites from November 2024 through May 2026. The headline: ChatGPT now sends 92.4% of all AI referral traffic, up from 84% six months ago. But the more strategically important number is underneath it. Claude grew from 133 sessions in November 2024 to 8,528 in May 2026, a 64x increase, and passed Perplexity for the #2 spot in March 2026. Perplexity, meanwhile, has fallen 61% from its March 2025 peak. Copilot is down 96%.
Previsible attributes Claude's growth to expansion into coding tools and enterprise workflows, Claude Code specifically. That matters because enterprise workflow users convert differently than casual chat users. They are doing work inside Claude, not browsing. Meanwhile a CiteLens study of 320 queries confirmed the citation logic is engine-specific: Google AI Mode pulls 93% of citations from Google's top 10 organic results, Perplexity follows at 89%, but ChatGPT shows near-zero correlation with Google ranking. Only 11% of domains cited by ChatGPT also appear in Perplexity answers on the same queries.
Total monthly AI-referred sessions across the 166 tracked sites grew from 47,606 in November 2024 to 610,910 in May 2026, a 12.8x increase in 19 months. Most brands still do not have clean GA4 referral tracking for chatgpt.com, claude.ai, perplexity.ai, and copilot.microsoft.com. If you have not checked this filter since last year, the mix has shifted significantly and you will not know it until you look.
Key Takeaway
Set up GA4 referral segments for chatgpt.com, claude.ai, perplexity.ai, and copilot.microsoft.com today if you have not already. Then test your five core topic queries directly inside Claude and check if your brand appears. Most companies have only ever tested ChatGPT. Claude is now the #2 AI traffic source and operates on a completely different citation logic than either ChatGPT or Perplexity.

Story 02 · Case Study
AG1 Outsells Everyone. AI Recommends Thorne. The Gap Is Your Opportunity.
Citation Share | Brand Strategy
5W's Supplements AI Visibility Index 2026, released July 7, tested 3,800 prompts across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews to rank the 25 most cited supplement brands. The finding that matters most: AG1, widely reported as the category revenue leader, ranked third in AI citation frequency, behind Thorne and Seed. Thorne, Seed, AG1, and Momentous together captured over 47% of all observed citation share.
This is the clearest published example of what the AI visibility gap looks like in practice. Revenue dominance does not translate to citation dominance. Thorne wins AI answers because of its structure: clinically cited product pages, published research partnerships, structured data, and consistent mentions in health-authority publications. AG1 wins culture and revenue. Thorne wins the AI recommendation at the moment a buyer is asking what to take.
Key Takeaway
For every category you compete in, ask: who is the Thorne in your space? Which competitor ranks lower by revenue but higher by AI citation? That company has already made the structural investments you have not. The citation gap between you and them is a solvable infrastructure problem, not a brand awareness problem.

Story 03 · GEO Tactics
YouTube Is Perplexity's Most Cited Domain. Most Brands Are Not on It.
Platform Strategy | Content Distribution
Foglift's Q2 2026 benchmark across 1,430 classified citations found that YouTube was the single most cited domain in the dataset, with 52 citations across 36 prompts. Perplexity accounted for 31 of those 36 prompt-level citations. ChatGPT and Claude cited YouTube zero times across the same query set. Perplexity is the only tracked engine with meaningful video citation share, at 9.7%, almost entirely YouTube.
The workflow that drives it is precise: publish or refresh a written canonical page that answers the target prompt, then upload a YouTube walkthrough covering the same topic with chapters, captions, and a transcript page. Submit both URLs for indexing and wait 48 to 72 hours before re-running the prompt. The two assets reinforce each other in Perplexity's retrieval. The transcript page alone adds a second crawlable URL to the citation pool for the same query.
Key Takeaway
If you have existing video content, the most under-leveraged Perplexity citation move right now is publishing timestamped transcripts as standalone pages with schema markup. You already have the content. The transcript page is the missing crawlable asset that turns one video into two citation candidates for the same prompt.
Story 04 · Content Structure
44% of All LLM Citations Come From the First 30% of Your Page
Content Architecture | Citation Rate
Machine Relations published a structural citation study on July 11 synthesizing data from SparkToro's 2026 analysis and University of Tokyo GEO research. The core finding: 44.2% of all LLM citations come from the first 30% of page content, 31.1% from the middle 40%, and just 24.7% from the final 30%. Structural optimization alone, with no content quality changes, produced a 17.3% improvement in citation rates in the Tokyo study.
The five structural changes with the strongest measured citation lift are: answer-first opening blocks placing the primary claim in the first 40 to 150 words; strict H1 to H2 to H3 heading hierarchy with no skipped levels; comparison tables with three or more HTML tables; FAQ sections with questions formatted as actual search queries; and clustering five to seven statistics in the first 500 words. Competitor comparison sections alone produced a 51% citation lift in ChatGPT specifically, versus 38% across all engines.
Key Takeaway
Open your five highest-value pages right now and ask one question: does the first paragraph contain a direct, complete answer to the primary query the page targets? If the answer is buried in paragraph three or wrapped in a setup, restructuring that one element alone will lift citation rate on those pages. No new content required.

Story 05 · Measurement
An Unprompted AI Mention Lifts Brand Site Traffic 1.5 to 2.5x. Analytics Misses 97% of It.
Measurement | Dark Traffic
Profound paired 2 million real AI conversations with browsing data and found that an unprompted brand mention in an AI answer lifts brand site visits 1.5 to 2.5x over the following seven days. Gemini produced the largest relative lift at approximately 2.5x. AI Overviews produced the largest volume. ChatGPT was the most consistent across industries at 38 to 86% uplift. Critically: over 97% of those visits carry no UTM tag, making them invisible in standard analytics.
The timing data is equally useful for strategy. 20.5% of post-mention brand visits land within an hour of the AI interaction, 42% within 24 hours, with the majority arriving after day one. This means AI mentions function more like earned media than paid clicks: the conversion window is longer, the attribution is harder, and the brand-level trust signal is stronger. Standard last-click analytics frameworks systematically undercount the revenue impact of AI citation campaigns.
Key Takeaway
If you are reporting the ROI of AI visibility work using standard UTM attribution, you are undercounting your results by a significant margin. The measurement framework for AI citations looks more like brand tracking than performance marketing: share of answer, citation rate by engine, and week-over-week direct traffic trends are your signal set.
This is exactly the infrastructure AI Recommendable is built around: making your brand crawlable, learnable, and citable across every AI engine. Bots Crawl. AI Learns. Communities Talk. Authority Wins.
